Briefed to attack Düsseldorf in Germany, the crew on board Handley Page Hampden bomber serial number AE244 EQ-P of 408 RCAF Squadron RAF was shot down by Feldwebel Fritz Schellwat and Unterofficier Willmann in a Bf110 night fighter from II/NJG1 of the Luftwaffe on the night of 31st July / 1st August 1942.
