The guys who were volunteering were full of knowledge and couldn't have been more helpful. They let our son sit in a cockpit and were happy to help out. During the week, the radio shack is open, where you can come down and use the old 2 way radios.
This really is a hidden gem and ideal for anyone who is interested in history or for kids learning about WW2 at school

A must not miss visit. The guys that help run the museum are happy helpful and very experienced. There’s lots of interesting artefacts in the museums and pieces of WW2 memorabilia and part of... read more old panes and munitions etc. my particular favourite was the old piano from the RAF mess room, I expect that was the focal point of some lively drinking sessions back in the day. Plenty for the kids to see and do. The guys overseeing the museum were helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

The night visit... read more last eve was eerily brilliant! Air raid sirens and news reports playing in the background as you stroll around the artifacts.

  In an unassuming farm barn, in the middle of the rolling Sussex countryside, lies an absolute gem of a place, which filled up my Sunday beautifully. This is a quite... read more staggering collection of 12,000+ artefacts and effects from the Second World War. By chance, I was seeing tge rarest of Pacific War aircraft with a visiting chool party of Japanese students and aeroplane remains from the Asian tundra with a family of Russians, in this museum which encourages a hands on, engaged and wonderfully informative approach. I've sat in cockpits, cocked a Lee Enfield, rung a scramble bell, sat in an Austin 7, heard an air-raid siren, peered through a Spitfire's reflective gunsight, been shown some significant reatorations and so much more.

The volunteers are exactly as they should be - welcoming, helpful, passionate and go above and beyond to make your visit perferct. The potential relocation and upscaling of the museum to new premises is very, very exciting and I look forward to supporting it and all that it stands for, long into the future. The only negative was one of my own-making, that simply being that I had never visited before now. This place is incredible.

There are so many... read more artefacts including from planes that were shot down or crashed and these have come from various countries. There is also a section on the home guard and various life stories of different service men. If you are even a little bit interested in the 2nd world war this is definitely a place you should visit. The only thing I would say is if you visit in the winter wrap up warm as the museum is in an outbuilding and there is no heating so it was a bit cold.
